Face-to-face classes are suspended and the threat of COVID-19 continues, and so we are expected to remain indoors.
We know for sure that being home-bound for months can make us grow impatient but this is also the best time to bond with our family.
In an exclusive interview with GMANetwork.com, Yasmien Kurdi lists five activities to keep the productivity and learning going for you and your kid.
1. Join online workshops
Yasmien and Ayesha take advantage of this time to hone their talents together. The mother-daughter tandem actually did an acting lesson together online.

The Kapuso mom explains, “Marami nagbibigay ngayon ng mga free workshop coming from the masters of their own field… may theater, may singing, may dancing, 'di ba. Marami tayo pwedeng gawin.”
2. Do TikTok together
Yasmien also advises parents to learn and join trends that kids may actually be interested in. This includes doing TikToks.

She claims, “Kami ni Ayesha nagti-TikTok kami kasi 'yun 'yung uso sa mga bata, 'yun 'yung cool. So kailangan makisabay ka rin sa anak mo, kung ano 'yung trip nila.”
3. Play games and challenges
Yasmien also recommends using the internet to look for ideas for activities you can do offline.
She tells, “Pwede kayong gumawa ng games and challenges at home. Ayan, para mas maging exciting. Marami kang mahahanap na ideas niyan. Especially digital na ngayon, so marami kang makikitang ideas and concepts online na pwede mo gayahin tapos gawin mo kasama ng anak mo, 'di ba.
4. Cook or bake together.
For Yasmien, the time spent at home is a good opportunity to introduce household chores in a fun way. For her and Ayesha, they enjoy kitchen time together.
She says, “Ako, personally naging bonding moment ko 'yun with my kid, especially girl siya and she loves to bake. Kami together when we create something new o kaya mga new dish na hindi pa niya nagagawa, naaaliw siya at natututo rin naman siya.”
5. Engage in gardening
Yasmien also teaches Ayesha to be more nurturing and to live sustainably through urban gardening.
“Pwede tayo mag-gardening or planting. Lalo ngayon hindi ka agad pwede lumabas sa bahay so kailangan may konting tanim ka sa bakuran. Like ako, may mga malunggay ako or papaya, ganyan. So talagang pag meron kaming mga seed from calamansi or the lemon, biglang sasabihin niya itatanim daw namin 'yun together. So it's a fun activity to do with your kid at home," the actress recommends.
